BCCI and Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) now are searching for a new coach for the Indian Cricket team as soon as possible after Anil Kumble‘s resignation and have ensured that team will get a new coach before Sri Lanka tour of India. In the search, they would surely be going through the current list of applicants consisting of Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus, Lalchand Rajput and Dodda Ganesh.
Whereas according to the sources, Virender Sehwag remains the favourite for the post. Earlier, it was decided that CAC will appoint the new coach after the West Indies tour and till then, Kumble will continue to the post, but his sudden move has left CAC no option but to appoint someone soon.
Some sources also said that due to lack of experience and teaching techniques, Virender Sehwag will not be the right person for the job.
According to the BCCI acting president CK Khanna, “Team India will get his new head coach before tour to Sri Lanka. The assignment of the new head coach will be till the next World Cup to be held in June 2019 in England.”
