Indian women's cricket team with Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Vinod Rai, chief of Committee of Administrators (CoA) made a suggestion for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to form a committee and draw a roadmap for the future of Indian women’s cricket. The idea comprises including the captain and the coach of the side in the panel. A BCCI source revealed “The committee’s mandate will be to draw a programme for the players. The players will be given rest and then we shall go to the board room.”

For now, the team is at rest and does not have any international matches. It will be seen by the committee if they could arrange any international engagements for the team in the near future. A series with Bangladesh is possible but nothing is really fixed till now. The committee will also be looking at the possibility of organising a women’s IPL. However, unavailability of enough players is a concern.

Meanwhile, according to BCCI members, team’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Thursday went well. It was scheduled to be 15 minutes but lasted for about an hour. BCCI acting president CK Khanna, CoA member Diana Edulji, CEO Rahul Johri and Shetty accompanied the squad to the Prime Minister’s residence.
