After a lot of confusion, Bharat Arun’s name was finalised as the bowling coach of the Indian cricket team. His appointment is likely to be formalised on Tuesday when Ravi Shastri will meet the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s special committee. Bharat Arun has always been the first choice of Ravi Shastri for the post and he even recommended Arun’s name for the job. In the meeting, Shastri will also talk about the best utilisation of Zaheer Khan and Rahul Dravid.
The committee will also take care of India-A support staff. India-A head coach, Rahul Dravid has asked for Paras Mhambrey and Biju George as his support staff for the upcoming tour of South Africa. Dravid has also demanded George, who is currently working as the fielding coach of India’s women’s team at the World Cup in England to be in the team.
Regarding Zaheer and Dravid’s role in the team, it is learnt from CAC that both will be available for 150 days as a consultant. However, CoA said that CAC’s work was only to recommend the name and not appointing them. The Indian team will be leaving for Sri Lanka on Wednesday, one day after the BCCI announces the support staff of the team.
