According to captain Kohli, the bowling and batting department of team is performing well but the fielding still needs to be improved. Many are saying that if India remains in this form, they will surely retain the Champions Trophy again.
However, one of the main factors which helped India win the match on Sunday against Pakistan was good team strategy. They didn’t lose early wickets and as a result were having good wickets in hand when they started hitting. Tough a bit slow start, the above strategy helped them to increase the run rate in the end overs and put up a big score of 324 in the end. Rohit and Shikhar scored 136 runs for the opening partnership which provided India a strong base. And captain Kohli at no. 3 made sure that the base provided should be converted in something big.
However, when he was not able to hit big shots, he decided to give strike to Yuvraj Singh who was unstoppable at that time. Now that’s what a smart player do- switching between the wickets.
After winning, Kohli said, “I could not go for the big ones because it was tricky. We went off about four times. And we came back in, and so as a player who likes to play the long innings, till the end and usually plays like that for the team, it becomes very difficult to find momentum every time you come back. And all you’ve got to do is play yourself in again. When Yuvi came in, we didn’t go back out again.”
India with their game on Sunday told everyone that it will not be an easy task to defeat them and surely, Sri Lanka will not make mistake of underestimating the Indian team.
