Stephen Constantine

India football coach, Constantine has much confidence in his team and says that as per team conditions, Indian team can perform well and can beat anyone. Also he said that it is the big challenge and really important to beat Kyrgyzstan in the AFC Asian Cup qualifier.

When asked about the team on Monday, he said, “If it’s a battle of stamina, I would put us to beat anybody at the moment. We are very physical, we are quite strong. We have a fit and hard-working team, so on that front I am not worried. They (Kyrgyzstan) are a sturdy team, they are difficult to break down and I’m sure they didn’t come here to lose either. And they will think that they will win this game, which is understandable. But we are in India, we are at home and we have to take three points.”

He also pointed out at the fitness of Rowllin Borges and hinted that he may be playing in the match on Tuesday, while Sunil Chhetri himself cleared out all the clouds on his fitness and said that he may be taking part in the match. It is a good sign for India as they both are important pillars of the team.

Sunil Chhetri said on his fitness. “I’m quite charged up, man. I got a three-four days’ break. Once I came back from the camp, they checked me, analysed me and thought there was still some scar tissue. Initially when I came to know this, I wasn’t very happy but it really worked out. I am quite happy to be back into the team. Thankfully, I’m ready for tomorrow.”

At the start of the qualifiers, Kyrgyzstan were above India but now the case is reversed. And the kind of confidence India is showing states that they are mentally as well as physically ready to play the game.
