CSK qualifies for the playoffs after winning against DC, just as LSG qualifies for the eliminator after winning against KKR.

IPL Season 2023

The 16th edition of the IPL has almost reached its playoff stage.

The 21st of May is the last day of the league stage, as we are still trying to find the fourth team to qualify for the next stage.

Gujarat Titans claimed the first position in the points table, followed by Chennai Super Kings, as they will play the first qualifier in Chennai on May 23rd.

Lucknow Super Giants became the third team to qualify, and depending on the results of today’s matches, the remaining team will be finalized.

CSK v/s DC

The first match on Saturday was played in Delhi. CSK won the toss and elected to bat first.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway gave an outstanding start to their team as they also completed their half-centuries.

They both played knocks of 79 and 87 runs and by their partnership of 141 runs, CSK made a total of 223/3.

Prithvi Shaw and David Warner opened the inning for DC.

They weren’t able to give a great start to their team as Shaw lost his wicket.

David kept on fighting till the end, as he played an outstanding knock of 86 runs but wasn’t able to make his team win.

CSK won the match by 77 runs as they claimed the second spot in the points table.

KKR v/s LSG

The second match was played at Eden Gardens, as KKR won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Karan Sharma and Quinton de Kock opened the inning for them.

The batting line-up of LSG wasn’t able to score many runs as they were losing wickets.

The knock in the end by Nicholas Pooran of 58 runs took LSG to a total of 176/8.

Jason Roy and Venkatesh Iyer opened the innings for KKR.

They both gave a good start to their teams, as it felt like they would easily win the match.

As time went on, LSG gave them their first breakthrough in the form of Venkatesh.

The batting of KKR after that wasn’t able to stand in front of the bowling of LSG.

Rinku Singh, the lone wolf of KKR, took the match close, as in the last two overs he hit 20 and 19 runs.

He wasn’t able to make his team win, LSG won by just one run and qualified for the eliminator to be played in Chennai on May 24.
