CSK became the first finalists after beating GT

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) became the first finalists as they beat Gujarat Titans (GT) in the first playoffs.

Gujarat Titans became the first team to qualify for the playoffs, and after that, Chennai Super Kings marked their name for the first playoffs.

The first qualifier was going to be played in Chennai on May 23, 2023.

The entire stadium was filled with supporters, as no one knows when MS Dhoni will announce his retirement.

GT won the toss and elected to field first and stop the yellow army at a low score.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway opened the inning for CSK.

They both started great, as they were building a great partnership.

They both scored runs in fours and single doubles, and Ruturaj also completed his half-century.

Devon and Ruturaj formed a partnership of 87 runs when Ruturaj lost his wicket to Mohit Sharma.

After Ruturaj, Shivam lost his wicket to Noor Ahmad in the next over.

After the opening partnership, the wickets kept falling in a short intervals of time.

The batting line-up of CSK scrambled as they weren’t able to build a big score.

With the knocks of both the openers, Ruturaj (60 runs) and Devon (40 runs), they built a total of 172/7.

Shivam Dube was replaced by Matheesha Pathirana in the second innings.

Mohit Sharma was replaced by Vijay Shankar to strengthen the batting line-up.

Wriddhiman Shah and Shubman Gill opened the inning for GT.

The CSK bowlers started to take wickets from the start, as they took the wicket of Saha.

Shubman Gill in the middle was trying to handle the situation as he played a knock of 42 runs.

But the CSK bowlers didn’t let it happen as they took frequent wickets.

Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana, Ravindra Jadeja, and Matheesha Pathirana all of them took two wickets each.

They stopped the GT batsmen at 157 runs, as CSK won the match by 15 runs.

With this win, they became the first finalists in the sixteenth edition of the IPL.
