Chennai Super Kings

The two-year ban imposed on IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings by the Supreme Court has ended on Thursday and the team will take part in the following season of IPL. The CSK fans are eagerly waiting for their favourite team to return to the ground in the yellow jersey. With such a support and fan following, Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited (CSKCL) is making sure to include the best in the team.

The main agenda would be to get back Dhoni in the team. The retention policy for the next IPL season has not been decided yet by BCCI. However, if retention is allowed, there is no doubt that the first player to be in the team will be MS Dhoni.

One of the directors of CSKCL, K George John said,  “If we are given an option of retaining a player, it will definitely be Dhoni. We haven’t yet discussed with Dhoni as his contract with Pune Supergiant ends later this year. However, we will speak to him in the future.”

Along with Dhoni, CSK management will surely try to include the same support staff in the team. It is clear that they want no change in the two times IPL winning team. Stephen Fleming, former New Zealand skipper has been the head coach for a couple of years while Andy Bichel (bowling coach), Steve Rixon (fielding coach) and analyst Lakshmi Narayanan were the main embers in the support staff.

John, telling about the further activities of the team management said, “Our passion is cricket and we will stick to it. On Friday, we will have two activities on social media to mark the team’s return. `Super Moments’ will revisit our title wins, Ashwin-Gayle saga and a few others. Then we will ask fans to send their Super Selfie with CSK stars and with the yellow jersey.”

He said that despite having absent for two years, they have not lost their popularity.  “In fact, we have got a lot of inquiries from various sponsors. We have had tremendous support from the sponsors and the fans have been phenomenal in supporting us,” he told.

He is also planning to have an interacting session in the upcoming TNPL with former CSK player, Matthew Hayden who is expected to be present there for commentary.
