Chennai Super Kings (CSK) win the finals of the IPL 2023 against Gujarat Titans (GT).

The IPL 2023 final was to be played on May 27, but it was washed out due to heavy rainfall in Ahmedabad.

The match shifted to the reserve day of May 28 as rain interrupted again, but the match was finally completed.

Match Details

The finals were all set to be played between the last-year champions, GT, and the four-time champions, CSK.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of CSK, won the toss and elected to bowl first.

It was also the last match for Ambati Rayudu, who declared his retirement.

Gujarat Titans (GT) innings

Wriddhiman Shah and Shubman Gill opened the inning for GT.

They both gave a firing start to their teams as they were adding great runs.

The old MS Dhoni was seen in the form again behind the stumps as he did an outstanding stumping of Gill.

Saha and Sai Sudharsan kept the momentum going for their team.

Saha completed his half-century as Sai was also playing a furious knock.

Deepak Chahar didn’t let Saha convert his score into a big innings as he took his wicket.

Sai kept on going, and with his knock of 96 runs, GT made a total of 214/4.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) innings

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway opened the inning for CSK.

After the start of the second inning, the rain started to interrupt the game again.

Because of the rain, the match started at 12:10 and was reduced to 15 overs.

Now CSK needed 171 runs in 15 overs to win the final.

Ruturaj and Devon started to play great shots and they gave a good start to their team.

Shivam Dube, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ambati Rayudu also contributed to the run chase.

In the last two deliveries, ten runs were required, as when Ravindra Jadeja hit an absolute dream shot for a six and then for a four, his team won.

CSK won the title for the fifth time as they equalized MI, who also won the title five times.

Ambati Rayudu got the dream retirement that many wished for, as Mahi stated that he would try to come back next season.

The orange cap was claimed by Shubman Gill, and the purple cap was claimed by Mohammed Shami.
