Sprinter Dutee Chand put her BMW care on sale to raise funds for taking care of training expenses. She stated that she bought the car at rupees 30 lakhs and the maintenance had become an issue for her. She also stated that she has two more cars, and not enough parking space.

“I”ve decided to sell it off so that the money raised can be handy to continue training. I have to spend about rupees 1 lakh alone on diet. I also have to pay salaries to my support staff including trainer and physiotherapist,” the 24-year-old who has been training in Bubaneshwar said on Saturday.

She admitted that it had become very difficult for her to sustain the training. Dutee stated that she only receives rupees 60,000 a month as she is on the rolls of Odisha Mining Corporation.

“I spent most of the cash incentives which the Odisha Government have given to me. With the postponement of the Olympics, it has become even more difficult for me to fund my training,” Dutee explained.

“For me, postponement of the Olympics is the biggest jolt as I was preparing with all seriousness and intensity,” said Dutee, the only Indian to win a 2019 Universiade gold in sprints.
