The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) on Monday confirmed that it has received the official “Letter of Intent” from the BCCI. The letter states that BCCI has accepted their offer to host the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE.

IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel had announced the dates of the tournament last week. IPL is to take place between September 19 and November 8. Mr. Patel also confirmed that it will take place in UAW subject to the Indian government’s approval.

“We have received the letter and now wait on the decision from the Indian Government which will ink the final deal,” said Mubashshir Usmani, ECB Secretary-General.

Usmani also stated that both Boards have instigated discussions with relevant authorities. These authorities include their respective internal working-committees. Both the Boards are currently in preparation of hosting the tournament in a safe and protected environment.

The IPL Governing Council is likely to meet in order to finalise organisational plans for the tournament.
