England played against the Netherlands on the 17th of June at Amstelveen.

The Netherlands won the toss and elected to field first. As the openers came out to bat, ENG lost their first wicket in the second over at the score of just one run.

First Innings

After that, they made their intentions very clear as Phil Salt and Dawid Malan started to bat. There were frequent fours and sixes as they formed a quick partnership of a hundred runs. The ENG batsmen were looking unstoppable against the Dutch bowlers as they had even completed their half-centuries.

Both of the batsmen soon completed the partnership of 200 runs and also made their names in the record book for making a partnership of 222 runs for the 2nd wicket.

Phil Salt departed at 122 runs after being caught by Boissevain. Malan and Jos Buttler took the match forward. Jos Buttler was seen in good form as he started to bat and achieved his century in just 47 deliveries.

Records

Jos Buttler missed breaking his old record of scoring a century by just one ball. Whereas he became the second-fastest individual to achieve a milestone of 150 runs in just 65 balls, the record still stays with AB De Villiers, who took 64 balls to get there.

Liam Livingstone takes only 17 deliveries to reach fifty. The fastest ODI fifty for England. His fastest fifty also moved him into second place in ODIs behind AB, who took 16 balls.

ENG scored 164 runs in the last ten overs, the most by any team in the tournament, breaking South Africa’s previous record of 163 runs against the West Indies.

As 50 overs ended, ENG scored a total of 498 runs for the loss of 4 wickets, the highest in the format, surpassing the previous record of 496 runs for the loss of 4 wickets by Surrey against Gloucestershire in 2007.

In all, 26 sixes were hit by the English team, the most by any team in ODI innings, breaking their record of 25 sixes against Afghanistan in the 2019 World Cup.

ENG became the only team to achieve 300 runs through boundaries in an ODI inning. Their total of 498 runs included exactly 300 runs via boundaries, which included 36 fours and 26 sixes.

Philippe Boissevain conceded 108 runs, the second-most runs conceded by a spinner in the format. He became the first Dutch bowler to concede 100-plus in an ODI.

Second Innings

In return, NL was only able to score 266 runs for the loss of all their wickets. Scott Edwards was the only batsman who was able to achieve his half-century.

ENG also made it to the record list of most significant victories as they beat NL by 232 runs. Jos Buttler was named the Player of the Match for his knock of 162 runs in just 70 balls.
