England’s tour of South Africa

England visited South Africa for a tour of three ODI matches.

The ODI World Cup is to be played this year itself, which is why every country is preparing.

The three matches of the ODI started on January 27th, and the last ODI was played on February 1st.

South Africa beat the English team by 2-1, and they won the series.

First Match

The first match was played in Bloemfontein.

South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first.

Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma opened the inning for SA.

They both gave a good start to the team when Temba lost his wicket.

Rassie van der Dussen came to bat next and scored an outstanding century.

With his century and half-century by David, SA reached a total of 298/7.

In return, Jason Roy and Dawid Malan, the opening batsmen of the England team, played well.

Jason completed his century, while Dawid also scored his half-century.

Their runs weren’t enough, as after the fall of their wickets, none of the English batsmen were able to score runs.

The South African bowlers took all the wickets of the English batsmen and won the match by 27 runs.

Second Match

The second ODI was also played at the same location.

South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first.

It was a high-scoring match as the knocks by Harry Brook and
Jos Buttler of 80 and 94 runs took England to a total of 342/7.

In return for this score, the SA captain played an important role, as his century took the SA team close to the win.

In the end, the innings by David Miller helped SA win the match by five wickets.

Third Match

The third match was played at Kimberley.

SA won the toss and elected to field first.

The outstanding centuries by Dawid Malan and Jos Buttler took the England team to a total of 346/7.

In return, the SA team wasn’t able to chase down the runs.

Jofra Archer took a haul of five wickets, for a total of six wickets, and stopped the SA batsmen.

Adil Rashid also supported him by taking three wickets as they stopped the SA innings at 287 runs.

Jos Buttler was chosen as the Player of the Series for scoring 261 runs in the three matches.
