England and South Africa played the first game of the three matches, Day and Night T20I, on July 27th at Bristol.

South Africa won the toss and elected to field first.

First Innings

For ENG, Jason Roy and Jos Buttler opened the innings.

The openers seemed to have fixed their mindset to set up a big total as Buttler hit massive sixes and fours from the start itself.

Lungi Ngidi didn’t allow Jos to score many runs, catching him in the third over and giving ENG their first breakthrough.

Ngidi struck again as he took the second wicket in the next over in the form of Jason Roy.

ENG was in trouble as their openers were sent back to the pavilion.

David Malan and Jonny Bairstow handled the situation as they formed a partnership of 71 runs when Phehlukwayo took the wicket of Malan.

Jonny and Moeen Ali kept on going as Bairstow completed his half-century and soon Moeen also completed his fifty.

The 106-run partnership by both of them, which consisted of many great shots and massive sixes, came to an end as Ngidi took the wicket of Ali.

The knock of 90 runs by Bairstow brought the English team to a total of 234 runs for the loss of six wickets.

Lungi Ngidi made a haul of five wickets as he took the wickets of the five major batsmen of England.

Second Innings

Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks opened for the SA side.

The score was too big to chase, so SA needed to do something extraordinary.

Reece Topley was now letting the openers settle down as he took the wickets of De Kock and Rilee Rossouw in the same over.

Hendricks completed his half-century as he tried to contribute to chasing down the runs as he lost his wicket to Ali.

Tristan Stubbs hit massive sixes as he tried to chase down the runs. He played an outstanding inning of 72 runs, which included eight mind-blowing sixes.

Richard Gleeson took three wickets, and Topley and Adil took two wickets each, limiting the SA team to a total of 193 runs for the loss of eight wickets.

ENG won the match by 41 runs as Moeen Ali was named the Player of the Match for a knock of 52 runs and 1/27 bowling figures.
