Match Details
The first test match was played at Galle. Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first.
Bangladesh First Innings
Shadman Islam and Anamul Haque opened the innings for Bangladesh.
The top order wasn’t able to perform well, as they all soon lost their wickets.
The captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, took the lead from the front, with Mushfiqur Rahim supporting him from the other end.
They both formed a valuable partnership and even completed their centuries.
Najmul played an innings of 148 runs; on the other hand, Mushfiqur played an innings of 163 runs.
Litton Das gave the ending knocks by playing a knock of 90 runs and taking the total to 495 runs.
Sri Lanka First Innings
Pathum Nissanka and Lahiru Udara opened the innings for Sri Lanka.
They both started slowly and soon Lahiru lost his wicket, followed by a few more.
Kamindu Mendis started to support Pathum as he completed his century.
Pathum played an amazing knock of 187 runs, and Kamindu played a knock of 87 runs.
By this, the Sri Lankan team made a total of 485 runs as Nayeem Hasan took a haul of five wickets.
Bangladesh Second Innings
Shadman and Anamul opened the innings, and soon Anamul lost his wicket, followed by the wicket of Mominul.
Najmul once again stepped forward and started to play an important knock with Shadman.
He played a knock of 125 runs, and Shadman played a knock of 76 runs.
Bangladesh declared their innings at a total of 285 runs for the loss of six wickets.
Sri Lanka Second Innings
Sri Lanka needed 296 runs to win the match as Pathum and Lahiru opened the innings.
They soon lost their wickets as Sri Lanka was only able to score 72 runs when day 5 ended, and the match resulted in a draw.
