For the first time, time, Sri Lankan women won the Asia Cup.

This was the ninth edition of the Asia Cup, till now, Indian women have won the title seven times.

And Bangladesh has won the title once.

Since the start of the Asia Cup, India has always made its way to the finals.

The same happened this year as well when Indian women topped their group.

And then, in the semi-finals, they beat Bangladesh Women and got into the finals.

Sri Lankan women also won all of their group stages.

And in the semi-finals, they registered an outstanding win against Pakistan Women.

Match Details

The final match of the Women’s Asia Cup was played on July 28 at Dambulla.

India The women won the toss and elected to bat first.

India Women Innings

Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana opened the Innings for Indian women.

They both started great and were hitting great shots as well.

Kavisha Dilhari broke their partnership when she took Shafali’s wicket.

Uma came in to bat but soon she lost her wicket to Chamari Athapaththu.

Harmanpreet, coming into bat, started to play a great knock but lost her wicket as well.

Smriti completed her half-century as she and Jemimah were forming an important partnership.

While converting the single into a double, Jemimah lost her wicket.

Simultaneously, Smriti also lost her wicket to India Women for two big breakthroughs.

By the ending knock of Richa Ghosh, Indian women made a total of 165/6.

Sri Lankan Women

Sri Lankan women needed 166 runs to win their first-ever Asia Cup title.

Vishmi Gunaratne and Chamari Athapaththu opened the innings for them.

In the second over, only Vishmi lost her wicket as she got a run-out.

Harshitha came in to bat as she and Chamari formed an important inning.

They both completed their half-centuries and were taking Sri Lanka towards victory.

Deepti Sharma broke their partnership when she bowled Chamari.

Kavisha came in to bat and her firing knocked at the other two batsmen.

Sri Lanka Women won their first-ever Asia Cup title.

Sri Lanka Women won the final by eight wickets and lifted the trophy.
