SR Ramachandra Rao

Former Test Umpire, SR Ramachandra Rao, who made his first-class debut in 1975 in a Ranji match between Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh in Aligarh passed away on Sunday at an age of 85. He only umpired one Test match in International Cricket in March 1987 between India and Pakistan when Sunil Gavaskar became the first batsman to cross 10000 runs. Also, he was an umpire in 5 list-A games. His last match as an umpire was the India-Pakistan ODI in Pune in March 1987.

SR Ramachandra Rao was born on September 16, 1931. The Karanataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on Monday, gave a statement expressing their condolence. The statement said, “The President, office bearers and members of the management committee of the Karnataka State Cricket Association deeply condoles the sad and sudden demise of Sri SR Ramachandra Rao.”
