India’s star tennis player Rohan Bopanna along with his Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski has made his way to the finals of French Open 2017 as they won the semi-final match on Wednesday. Match was against the third seeded Andrea Hlavackova and Edouard Roger-Vasselin which the seventh seeded pair won by 7-5 6-3 .
It is the second time that Bopanna has reached a summit clash of a Grand Slam. The first time was when he made it to the final of US Open men’s doubles in 2010 with Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-haq-Qureshi. Then he lost to the Bryan brothers-Bob and Mike.
The final match of Bopanna and Gabriela is with Germany’s Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Colombia’s Robert Farah, who defeated Casey Dellacqua and Rajeev Ram 6-7(5) 6-3 10-5 to reach the finals.
If Rohan is able to win the final, he will be the fourth Indian to claim a Grand Slam Trophy, the other three being the legendary players – Sania Mirza, Leander Paes, and Mahesh Bhupati.
