It was a mixed day for Indian Tennis fans on Sunday in the French Open 2017. The Indian role came to an end with Bopanna and the Indian pair of Purav Raja and Divij Sharan losing in the men’s doubles. Meanwhile, the two Indian juniors in the fray, Abhimanyu Vannemreddy and Zeel Desai, also lost in the first round.

Sania Mirza reached into the quarter finals of mixed doubles event as she and her partner Ivan Dodig of Croatia claimed a commanding win over their opponents at the French Open on Sunday. The second-seeded duo defeated Elina Svitolina of Ukraine and New Zealand’s Artem Sitak 6-2, 6-4.

However, Bopanna and his Uruguayan partner Pablo Cuevas failed to qualify to next round after losing to Jamie Murray (Great Britain) and Bruno Soares (Brazil) 6-7 2-6 in a third round match.

Later in the mixed doubles, Bopanna partnering Gabriela Dabrowski easily won from Chloe Paquet and Benoit Paire 6-3, 6-2.

The Indian men’s doubles duo of Purav Raja and Divij Sharan also lost their third round match to the pair of Ryan Harrison (USA) and Michael Venus (New Zealand) 6-4 6-7 2-6.
