Gautam Gambhir on Saturday said that Mahendra Singh Dhoni should continue playing international cricket. He stated that he should play as long as he feels he is fit, in form and enjoying the game. The World Cup-winning Captain turned 39 on July 7. MSD has not played any cricket since India’s semifinal exit from the ODI World Cup last year.

Former India opener Gambhir said, “Age is just a number, I think if you are in a very good form. MS Dhoni, if he is hitting the ball really well, if he is very good form, if he is enjoying the game and if he thinks that he can still win the game for the country at that number — especially at six and seven.”

MS Dhoni is the only captain to have won all ICC trophies.

“If he is in great fitness and form, he should continue playing because no one can actually force anyone to retire,” Gambhir said on Star Sports show Cricket Connected.
