Ganguly: Two additional T20Is, fewer Tests in England’s tour of India

The president of BCCI Sourav Ganguly had confirmed on Tuesday that the England team touring India will be playing 4 tests instead of 5. The series is set to feature in the month of February and March of 2021.

Not to forget that India will be hosting the T20 World cup in 2021 as well and keeping that in mind the extra test match has been scrapped off and additional 2 T20’s will be played between the two sides. Therefore there will be a total of 5 T20 Internationals, 3 One Day Internationals, and 4 test matches.

Earlier it was decided that England would tour India in the month of September for 3 T20’s and as many ODI’s but due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, it was postponed.

Ganguly had confirmed during a virtual event that England would tour India as it is easier to hold bilateral series for now but they will keep on assessing the situation yo improve the game.

The second wave of the virus is now the concern of the BCCI President with the rise in the number of cases in Mumbai and Delhi they will look to be more careful.

It has also been reported that UAE which was the venue for the IPL 2020 will be considered as an option in order to conduct the series between India and England also looking forward to the IPL 2021.

Ganguly also said that he looks forward to conducting the next IPL 2021 in India which is just 5 months away from now. He also mentioned that Domestic cricket will soon be played in India.

The likes of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the domestic T20 competition, and the Ranji Trophy, the first-class competition can be held under the short span of window.

Ganguly clearly mentioned that the Domestic Cricket competitions will be taking place in India from 1st of January 2021 but all the competitions might not be possible to be organized and played, he cleared.

it is expected that Ranju Trophy will kick start the campaign and later women’s Cricket will play a huge part in bringing normalcy into the life of cricketers. March and April are the months when other competitions will be held.
