Gujarat Titans (GT) qualified for the finals of the IPL 2023 after beating Mumbai Indians (MI).
GT were the table-toppers of the IPL season 2023 and the winners of the IPL 2022.
They won their first season of the IPL and are looking strong and going for another win.
GT played the first qualifier against the Chennai Super Kings in Chennai, where CSK beat them and qualified for the finals.
Mumbai Indians (MI), after beating LSG in the eliminator, came to play against GT to qualify for the finals.
Match Details
The second qualifier is going to be played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
MI won the toss and elected to bowl first, as they were good at chasing.
Gujarat Titans (GT) innings
Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Shah opened the inning for GT.
They both started to form a good partnership from the start.
They were scoring good boundaries and even taking single-double runs.
Piyush Chawla, the main lead bowler for MI, broke their partnership as he took the wicket of Shah.
Tim David dropped the catch of Shubman when he was playing at just 30 runs.
Shubman was seen as unstoppable after that as he completed his half-century.
Sai Sudharsan, from one end, rotated the strike and then got a chance to score boundaries.
Shubman kept on going as he completed his century and also became the youngest player to score a century in the playoffs.
With the help of his century, GT made a total of 233/3.
Mumbai Indians (MI) innings
MI opener Ishan Kishan got hit by their bowlers in the eye, because of which he wasn’t able to open the match.
Rohit Sharma and Nehal Wadhera opened the innings for MI, but they both soon lost their wickets.
Cameron Green and Surya Kumar Yadav, however, kept MI in the game as Surya also completed his half-century.
In between, a marvelous over of 24 runs by Tilak against Mohammad Shami kept the hopes alive.
But the wickets kept on falling from one end as Mohit Sharma took a haul of five wickets.
MI, in the end, wasn’t able to chase the runs as they lost the match by 62 runs, and GT qualified for the finals.
