The BCCI, also known as the Board of Control for Cricket in India, announced the squads for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lanka tour is more likely to start on January 3.
After the thumb injury to Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya is the new captain of the T-20I team.
Rohit will miss the three matches of the T-20I series and will return to lead India in the ODIS.
Surya Kumar Yadav has been selected to guide Hardik, as Surya has been selected as the vice-captain.
T-20I squad
As Rohit Sharma is out of the series, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul have also been kept out of the shortest format.
This might also indicate that these players might not be picked for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The uncapped players Shivam Mavi and Mukesh Kumar, who got sold for a good price in the IPL auction, have gotten their maiden T-20I call-ups.
Shivam Mavi got picked by the Gujarat Titans for a whopping price of Rs 6 crore.
Whereas Mukesh Kumar was picked by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 5.50 crore.
Both have been selected by the BCCI for international T-20I debuts.
Apart from them, the great power hitters Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rahul Tripathi has also been included in the squad.
Ruturaj recently created the world record for hitting seven sixes in an over in List A matches.

Shikhar Dhawan dropped out of the ODI squad due to his lack of performance.
Rishabh Pant has been dropped from both the T-20I and ODI squads.
He is asked to report to the NCA for his knee injury rehabilitation program.
