HOCKEY: Indian Men’s Hockey team is all set to join the FIH pro league for the year 2020. The news was confirmed on Tuesday by Hockey India. India will get the opportunity so as to fill the vacant slot for Pakistan, who withdrawn their name from the league.

Federation of hockey(FIH) CEO, Theirry Weil said “It’s great that will join the FIH Pro League already next year. There is such a passion for hockey in the country that it will add a lot to our newest competition”

Earlier, India withdrew his name from 2019 edition of Pro League and announced that they will play in the year 2021. And now they will mark their entry one year prior as Pakistan will not participate in the inaugural edition of the tournament.

In a press release by FIH, they said that the inclusion of the Indian team was totally unanimous and supported by other associations.

However, there is no news on the participation of the Women’s team that has stayed away from the league in the inaugural season.

It has been said that the reason behind Pakistan Withdrawl from the league is because of the Financial and Logistics concerns of the national associations.

They also made some changes regarding the Home-Away fixture of a particular team. As TeamA will host TeamB twice within a couple of days in 2020 while team TeamB will do the same with TeamA.
