ICC is yet to decide whether India and Australia will swap the 2021 and the 2022 editions between them. Both these tournaments will take place during October-November. ICC’s commercial wing, the IBC Board, will monitor various modalities before deciding on the host of this edition.

However, the news is a happy one for IPL fans. The official announcement has cleared the path for the BCCI to hold the IPL in the October-November window this year.

“The International Cricket Council (ICC) today confirmed the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia 2020 has been postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” the ICC said in a statement.

The T20 World Cup would have taken place between October 18-November 15. However, Cricket Australia stated that it would not be possible to stage a closed-door event of this magnitude while providing quarantine arrangement of 16 international teams.

In addition, the ICC pushed the 2023 50-over Word Cup in India from the March-April window to the October-November window.
