In a one-sided match between India and Pakistan, India thrashed the opponents by 95 runs. Ekta Bisht’s gave career second best and best in World Cup performance against the arch-rivals picking up 5 wickets and directing India towards the win in a low scoring match.

Indian team winning the toss opted to bat. Smriti Mandana, who was being considered as a threat to the Pakistani bowlers due to her form in the tournament scored only two runs. Also, Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur did not do well with the bat and left the ground at 8 and 10 runs respectively. Poonam Raut, being the highest scorer from the Indian side scored 47 runs missing her half-century by three runs. Nashra Sandhu from Pakistan bowled exceptionally well and played an important role to destroy India’s batting line-up by taking four wickets. The opponents restricted India to a low score of 169 in 50 overs.

The victory was sure for Pakistan as their openers stepped on the ground. But Indian bowlers, especially Ekta Bisht were not ready to give up so easily. Pakistan faced an embarrassingĀ defeat as they were only able to score 74 runs. Only Sana Mir (29 off 73) and Nahida Khan (23 of 62) were able to reach in double figures. Ekta Bisht bagged five wickets and conceded only 18 runs in 10 overs.

This was India’s third win in ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. The team is doing great till now and will be looking to maintain this form throughout the tournament.
