India visited Zimbabwe for three matches for the ODI series.

KL Rahul was made the captain of the Indian team as Rohit Sharma was given a rest.

Following Rohit were other big names like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bhumrah, and others who were given a break from this series.

New players were given a chance to play and give their best game before the Asia Cup.

The first match was played on August 18th in Harare.

India won the toss and elected to bowl first.

First Innings

Innocent Kaia and Tadiwanashe Marumani opened the innings for the ZIM team.

They both started at a slow pace but were able to score runs and rotate the strike.

Deepak Chahar broke their partnership as he took Kaia’s wicket and Sanju Samson took the catch and dismissed him.

The Indian bowlers since then didn’t let any of the ZIM batsmen scores runs as they gave frequent breakthroughs to them.

However, Regis Chakabva, Brad Evans, and Richard Ngarava’s short knocks led them to a total of 189 runs for the loss of all their wickets.

Deepak Chahar, Prasidh Krishna, and Axar Patel took three wickets each in limiting the ZIM team.

Second Innings

The Indian team didn’t just have to win the match apart from that, they had a chance to explore new options.

Playing against a weak team gives more options to be explored.

Shikhar Dhawan and Shubham Gill opened for the Indian team.

They both started great as there was strike rotation and boundaries as well in between.

Dhawan and Gill both completed their half-centuries after a certain amount of time.

It felt like the ZIM bowlers wouldn’t be able to take even a few wickets off the IND team.

Dhawan and Gill both played knocks of 81 and 82 runs respectively and made IND win the match single-handedly.

IND won the match by ten wickets with 115 balls remaining.

Deepak Chahar was the Player of the Match for his bowling figures of 3/27.
