India played the second ODI against Zimbabwe on the 20th of August in Harare.

After winning the last ODI, the Indian team was filled with confidence and was looking to win another match.

ZIM would look to level the series by winning the match.

IND won the toss and elected to field first.

First Innings

Takudzwanashe Kaitano and Innocent Kaia opened the innings for ZIM.

They both gave a slow start to ZIM when Mohammad Siraj’s outstanding bowling made Kaitano edge the bowl.

The bowl caught the edge as Sanju Samson took the catch and gave ZIM their first breakthrough.

Shardul Thakur struck as he bowled Kaia and, in the same over,
he took the wicket of Regis.

The Indian bowlers dominated the game again as they again didn’t let the batsman score many runs.

Sean Williams and Ryan Burl, in between, tried their best to build up a big score.

Their knocks of 42 and 39 runs took the total of ZIM to 161 for the loss of all their wickets.

Shardul Thakur took three major wickets and all the other bowlers got one wicket each.

Second Innings

IND’s innings began with Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul.

KL put him in the top order to bring back his form and score some runs.

However, he wasn’t able to stand for long as he lost his wicket to Victor Nyauchi.

Shikhar and Gill played a knock of 33 runs each as they brought IND close to the total.

The ZIM bowlers didn’t let the Indian batsmen score runs as easily as they did in the last match.

Sanju Samson, coming in between, hit four massive sixes and three fours.

He played a wonderful knock of 43 not-out runs as he took IND to victory and made them win the game.

Luke Jongwe took major wickets, and Tanaka Chivanga, Victor Nyauchi, and Sikandar Raza took one wicket each.

In the end, IND won the match by five wickets as Sanju Samson was named the Player of the Match for his knock of 43 runs and three catches.

IND took the lead by 2-0 in the series.
