India and Pakistan have been fined 40 percent of their match fees for maintaining a slow overrate.

The fine was imposed on them when they maintained a slow over-rate in the match that was played between them on
Sunday, August 28.

Slow Overrate

The International Cricket Council (ICC) implemented a new rule earlier this year.

This rule is called slow over-rates by teams.

According to the rules implemented by the ICC, teams have to maintain a specific over rate to be bowled in an hour.

It is 15 overs per hour in Test cricket, 14.28 in ODIs, and 14.11 in T20s.

Following the implementation of the slow overrate law, captains are expected to complete their over in a specific amount of time.

In ODIs, it is expected to complete the 50 overs in 3.5 hours and an hour and 25 minutes in T20s.

Fines and Penalties

At the start of the over, the fielder is called back inside the 30-yard circle after the period is completed.

The first penalty in a season is 12 lakhs after the match.

The captain of the bowling team is fined 12 lakhs rupees.

If the over-rates happen a second time in the same season then the captain is charged 24 lakhs.

Aside from the captain, the remaining ten players will be charged either 6 lakhs or 25% of their match fees.

If this happens for the third time in the same season, then the captain is fined Rs. 30 lakh and will be banned for one match.

The other ten players will be fined 12 lakh rupees or 50% of their match fees.

IND vs PAK

Both the captains were fined 40% of their match fees for maintaining a slow overrate.

The fine was imposed by the on-field umpires Masudur Rahman and Ruchira Pilliyaguruge, third umpire Raveeendra Wimalasiri and fourth umpire Gazi Sohel.

Rohit and Babar both pleaded guilty to the
offense and accepted the fine.
