India finally lifted the trophy after 13 years of waiting.
The ICC Trophy drought finally ends as they pull off a fantastic win in the finals.
It’s been a dream for every Indian fan to see India lift the trophy.
The last time they lifted the trophy was in 2011 in Mumbai.
After that, they have several times reached the semi-finals and even the finals.
But unfortunately, I have always been on the losing side.
This time, in Barbados, they got united and worked as a unit.
And finally got the job done for India, as Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, lifted the ICC T20 World Cup Trophy.
Match Details
The finals of the ICC T20 World Cup were going to be played in Bridgetown, Barbados.
India and South Africa were all set to give their best.
Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first.
India Innings
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli opened the innings for them.
They both started great with boundaries and were looking strong.
Keshav Maharaj didn’t let them settle as he took the wicket of Rohit.
In the same over, Rishabh Pant also lost his wicket.
And later, Suryakumar lost his wicket to Kagiso Rabada.
Virat was keeping the pace from one end, and Axar started to support him from the other end.
They both started to get runs as slowly as they took India into a good position.
While going on, Axar got run out by de-kock as Virat completed his half-century.
Shivam came in to bat as he also played a short inning.
With the knock by Virat of 76 runs, India reached a total of 176/7.
South Africa Innings
Reeza Hendricks and Quinton de Kock opened the innings for them.
Jasprit Bumrah didn’t let them settle, as in his first over, he bowled Reeza.
In the next over, Arshdeep Singh took the wicket of Aiden Markram.
SA soon lost some frequent wickets as Heinrich and David formed a good partnership.
They were taking away the game from India as Hardik took the wicket of Heinrich.
David was standing strong and playing well as Suryakumar took an outstanding catch.
The catch brought India back into the game as they lifted the World Cup.
After 13 years, India finally lifted the ICC T20 World Cup.
Virat Kohli was the Player of the Match, and Jasprit Bumrah was the Player of the Series.
