India starts the ODI series with a win against Australia

The India team wins the first ODI against the Australian team.

After winning the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia and qualifying for the test finals now it was time for the ODI series.

Match Details

The first ODI was to be played at Wankhede on 17th March.

Hardik Pandya was named as the captain of the ODI team for the first time as Rohit Sharma was out of the first ODI due to personal reasons.

Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first as they called up Australia to bat.

Australia Innings

Travis Head opened the Innings alongside Mitchell Marsh as David Warner was out of the team due to injury.

Mohammad Siraj didn’t let the openers settle down as he took the wicket of Travis in the second over itself.

Mitchell started to play outstanding knocks and score good runs.

He soon even completed his half-century as he was becoming a problem for the Indian team.

Ravindra Jadeja didn’t let him settle down for long as he took his wicket while he was at the score of 81 runs.

Apart from him, no other batsmen were able to score many runs as the India team was giving the team frequent breakthroughs.

Mohammad Siraj and Mohammad Shami were taking frequent wickets as they both took three wickets each.

With both of them taking three wickets each and Ravindra Jadeja taking two wickets Indian bowlers took all the wickets at the score of 188.

India Innings

India needed 189 runs to win the match as it was looking low score.

Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill opened the Innings for India.

Marcus Stoinis gave India its first breakthrough in the form of Ishan.

After Marcus, Mitchell Starc gave India two back-to-back breakthroughs in the fifth over.

The Indian team lost five wickets at the score of just 83 runs.

Then KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja handled the situation.

KL going on completed his half-century as Ravindra was also helping him from the other end.

They both made India win the match in the 40th over itself by five wickets.

Ravindra Jadeja was chosen as the Player of the match for his knock of 45 runs and two wickets for 46 runs.
