The India U-19 Women’s Team storms into the Women’s T20 World Cup finals and aims to retain the title.
ICC started the T20 Women’s World Cup for the U-19 team in 2023, as the second season is currently going on.
The first edition was played in South Africa in the year 2023 as India won the finals against England and won the opening edition of the U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
ICC Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup
The second edition of the ICC Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup was taking place in Malaysia.
In total, twelve teams participated in the World Cup and were divided into two groups.
Group A consisted of India, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Scotland, and West Indies.
Group B consisted of South Africa, England, Nigeria, the United States, New Zealand, and Ireland.
From Group A India Women’s U-19 topped the group as they won four out of four matches.
Australia was second in the rankings, as they won three out of four matches.
Meanwhile, in Group B, South Africa Women’s U-19 topped the group, winning three matches and drawing one.
England ended in second place as they won two matches and two matches ended with no result.
Semi-finals
The first semi-final was played between the Australia Women’s U-19 team and the South Africa Women’s U-19 team.
South Africa’s women easily beat the Australian women as they made their way into the first U-19 Women’s finals.
The second match was played between the last T20 Women’s U-19 World Cup finals, India and England.
The England Women’s U-19 team won the toss and elected to bat first, posting 113 scores for the loss of eight wickets.
In return, the opening batsmen for the India Women’s U-19 team, G. Kamalini, and Gongadi Trisha, did half of the work when Trisha got out.
Sanika came in to bat as G. Kamalini completed her half-century.
Together, they helped the India Women’s team win the match and secure their place in the second consecutive finals of the Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup.
The finals will be played on February 2nd in Kuala Lumpur between India U-19 Women and South Africa U-19 Women.
