It is expected that Marnus will be taking the place of Injured David Warner to open the batting for the Australian side against the Indian Team in the remaining white-ball matches. David Warner had a groin injury in the second ODI against India whereas Marnus scored 70 runs off just 61 balls coming in at number 4.

David Warner was in terrific form as he scored 61 in the first ODI and 83 in the second. He is doubtful to play in the tests as well. His knocks have sealed the ODI series for the Aussies. His absence will allow someone else to step up and shine for the team.

Marnus stated that he would be delighted to open if the team needs him but he will wait for the decision.

Cricket Australia also confirmed that they brought in D’Arcy Short in place of David Warner for the T20 series.

Will Pucovski who is a young talent will be given an opportunity in the test side in place of David Warner. He will be opening his batting against the Indian side with Joe Burns at the other end.

With 4 test hundreds and an average of 40 in test cricket Joe is likely a good test player as said by Marnus.

With certain low scores in the shield cricket but good records, the previous year against Pakistan when he scored 99 should be the talking point for improvisation. He is never really far from scoring big believed Marnus.
