Indian Women's cricket team

The last match against South Africa didn’t go well for the Indian girls. It seemed that they were having trouble in making contact with the ball. And no one expected that Mithali Raj would not score. Taking a look at her previous records, after 181 ODIs and nearly 6,000 runs, his is the first time that she has gone for a golden duck. As a result, India’s winning streak was broken by South Africa as India lost their first match in the ICC Women’s World Cup.

Australia also suffered a loss against England in their last match. The Aussies needed 16 of the last over. No. 10 batter Jess Jonassen hit a boundary off the second delivery. Gunn smashed another four and brought down the equation to six runs in one ball. However, Gunn could not convert the last delivery into a six and as a result, England won by 3 runs.

India will meet Australia in their next match and both the teams need just one win to enter the semi-finals of the tournament. So it will be interesting to see who will lead their country into the semi-finals. Head to head record of India against Australia doesn’t go in favour of the home team as Australia have won 33 of 41 ODIs against India. In ICC World Cup also, Australia has taken the lead by winning 8 matches out of 10.

India’s decision of dropping Mansi Joshi and giving Shikha Pandey a chance proved to be fruitful from the bowling side as she ended with 3 for 40. However, she scored a duck with the bat.
