Shikhar Dhawan’s spectacular 190 and Cheteshwar Pujara’s unbeaten 144 have put India in a strong position in the 1st Test between India and Sri Lanka at Galle. At the end of Day 1, Rahane and Pujara still stand on the crease at a score of 399/3 in 85 overs. Dhawan was dropped by Asela Gunaratne at 31 and took its full advantage by making 190 runs in just 168 balls.
Earlier, Virat Kohli winning the toss opted to bat first and the innings was opened by Shikhar Dhawan and Abhinav Mukund. Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Pradeep and Lahiru Kumara opened the bowling for the opponent team at the green pitch of Galle.
Though Abhinav Mukund lost the opportunity to make a big score and got out in the 8th over at 12, Shikhar Dhawan stayed at the crease along with Cheteshwar Pujara. Both completed their 50 runs partnership in 60 balls. Also, Virat Kohli was not able to convert his innings into a big one and got out at a mere score of 3 runs.
