India wins the first series of the 2023–2025 World Test cycle.

The Indian team registered their first series win against the West Indies by a score of 1-0.

The second test match between India and the West Indies ended in a draw due to heavy rainfall.

Match Details

The second test was going to be played at Port of Spain from July 20–24.

The West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl first.

India’s First Innings

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma opened the inning for India.

They both gave a good start to the team as they also completed their half-centuries.

Jason Holder gave India its first breakthrough in the form of Yashasvi.

India lost three quick wickets in the form of Yashasvi, Shubman, and Rohit.

Virat and Ravindra Jadeja handled the situation well, as they formed a good partnership.

Virat’s knock of 121 and the contributions of all the other batsmen took India to a total of 438 runs.

West Indies First Innings

Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul opened the inning for the West Indies team.

The Indian bowlers were giving quick breakthroughs to the West Indies team and not letting anyone settle down.

Kraigg was the only batsman who scored good runs, as with his 75-run knock, WI reached a total of 255 runs.

Mohammad Siraj took a haul of five wickets, as Mukesh Kumar and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each.

India’s Second Innings

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma opened the inning for India.

They both again gave a good start to the team when Jomel took the wicket of Jaiswal.

The half-centuries by Rohit and Ishan Kishan took India to a total of 181 runs, where they declared the innings.

West Indies’ Second Innings

The West Indies needed 365 runs to win the match against India and tie the series.

Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul opened the inning for them.

They were both handling the innings when Ravichandran Ashwin took the wicket of Brathwaite.

In the next over, he took the wicket of Kirk, after which the rain started.

The rain eventually interrupted the gameplay, and the match ended in a draw.
