Indian Women Cricket Team

India women’s cricket team started their journey at the ICC Women’s World Cup with a 35-run win over England on Saturday. The top order displayed superb batting which helped the team to win without doing any great struggle.

England won the toss and invited their opponent to bat first. The openers,Smriti Mandhana(90 off 72) and Poonam Raut(86 off 134) gave India a strong start by building a 144-run opening partnership. Skipper Mithali Raj also played an excellent knock off 71 not out putting India in a dominating position as the score of India at the end of the innings was 281 for three.

Chasing 282, the hosts were sent back to the pavilion under 246 runs. Deepti Sharma took two wickets, Shikha Pandey bagged two while Poonam settled with one wicket. Highest scorers from England were  Fran Wilson (81 off 102) and Heather Knight (46 off 85). India had won against England after 5 years as they lost all the six matches to them.
