India women’s team outshined the South African women’s team in ODI and Test matches.
And the T20I series ends in a draw.
While the ICC T20 World Cup was going on in the USA and West Indies,
India tour of South African women started.
The tour included three ODI and T20 matches and one test match.
The tour was going to start on June 16th and end on July 9th.
ODI series
The first ODI was played in Bengaluru, and IND-W won the toss and elected to bat first.
Smriti Mandhana’s outstanding century took them to a total of 265/8.
The SA-W needed 266 to win, but the bowlers didn’t let that happen.
Asha Sobhana took four wickets, and Deepti Sharma took two wickets.
All in all, the girls took all the wickets for a score of just 122 runs.
In the second ODI, IND-W batting first managed to build a total of 325/3.
The outstanding centuries by Smriti and the Indian captain Harmanpreet took them there.
In return, the centuries by Laura and Marizanne took SA-W closer to victory.
But in the end, they lost the match by four runs.
In the third ODI, SA-W batted first, scoring a total of 215/8.
In return, with an outstanding start by Smriti of 90 runs, IND-W managed to win the match.
They won all the matches in the ODI series and cleanly swept the South African women.
Test Match
The only test was played in Chennai, where India won the toss and elected to bat first.
Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana led India to an outstanding start.
They both formed an outstanding partnership and completed their centuries as well.
Shafali scored an outstanding double century, as India declared at a score of 603/6.
In return, the SA-W could only make a score of 266 runs.
The Indian team gave them a follow-on in the second innings.
With the centuries by Laura and Sune, they made a total of 373 runs.
India only needed 37 runs to win the test match, as they secured an easy win.
T20
The first T20 was played in Chennai, as India elected to field first.
South African women batting first with the knocks by Tazmin and Marizanne put up a total of 189/4.
In return, Indian women could only achieve a total of 177/4.
The second T20 was called off after the first innings due to rain.
In the third T20, the Indian bowlers took all the wickets for SA at a score of just 84 runs.
In return, the openers single-handedly achieved the total, and the T20 series ended in a draw.
