Indonesia Open started pretty well for Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy as they both have qualified for the second round after defeating Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong and local player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting. While the Singapore Open and Thailand Open champion, Sai Praneeth has been ruled out of the competition after losing his first match in the tournament.

Srikanth defeated Wong Wing Ki Vincent 21-15, 17-21, 21-16, in a match that lasted 56 minutes long. On the other hand, Prannoy won the match 21-13, 21-18. Srikanth won the first match, but lost his concentration in the second. However, he won the third match showing impressive performance. It is a positive start for both Srikanth and Prannoy at the Indonesia Open.

In men’s doubles Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost against Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto of Indonesia 9-21, 19-21 and were not able to maintain their place further in the tournament. Same was the case in women’s doubles. Indian pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N. Sikki Reddy lost to Dian Fitrini and Nadya Melati of Indonesia 21-19, 19-21, 13-21.
