Hardik Pandya guides RCB to a victory by scoring 37 RUNS IN JUST 16 BALLS

WANKHEDE: Despite putting 171 on the boards, RCB fell short to victory. The show belonged to Hardik Pandya who sealed the victory for Mumbai Indians after playing Scintillating knock of 37 runs off just 16 balls.

After winning the toss, Mumbai decided to bowl first. Just one change for MI as they got back Lasith Malinga in place of Alzarri Joseph who got injured in the last match.

RCB started horribly as they lost the key of Virat Kohli in 3rd over of the match. After his departure, ABD walked to the crease. Parthiv and AB de Villiers tried to build a partnership but Krunal dismissed Parthiv Patel while he was playing on 28. Then Englishman Moeen Ali joined ABD at the crease. Both were playing good cricket all around as they as keep on hitting the boundaries and snatching 1’s and 2’s.

Abd and Moeen Ali put 95 runs for the 3rd wicket

From 49-2 in 7th over Ali-Abd took them to 136-2 at the end of 16th over. Both reached their half-century in the 17th over. But after that, Moeen Ali lost his wicket in the next over. It was Lasith Malinga who got the breakthrough for his team. Moreover, he also got the rid of Marcus Stoinis in the same over. Abd was lacking some support from the other end. Despite that, he played a brilliant knock of 71 runs off 51 deliveries with 6 fours and 4 sixes and helped RCB to put 171-7. For Mumbai, Lasith Malinga was the pick of the bowler with his figure of 4-0-31-4.

Mumbai Indians opener gave them a perfect start. De Kock and Rohit Sharma put 70 runs for the first wicket in just 7 overs. The chase was looking very easy for MI but suddenly Moeen Ali got rid of both the openers in his first over. Two new Batsmen are now on the crease. Ishan Kishan was trying to play with some positive intent. He nailed 2 huge sixes in Pawan Negi’s 2nd over. But after hitting another six to Chahal, he was caught behind and got dismissed on 21 runs in just 9 balls. Moeen Ali bowled a tremendous spell of 4-0-18-2

Krunal Pandya was promoted up the order instead of Pollard and Hardik. Both were playing sincerely and made the scoreboard ticking. But Chahal got rid of Suryakumar Yadav in the 16th over. Krunal Pandya’s struggle also came to end in the 18th over. He made just 11 runs in 21 balls. In the final 2 MI needed 22 runs. Hardik Pandya made the chase easy and won the match for his team by scoring 22 runs in the 19th over. 

For his brilliant spell of 4-0-31-4 Lasith Malinga was adjourned Man of the Match.
