In a major blow to Delhi Capitals, their senior fast bowler Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 thanks to a rib injury.
The IPL franchise confirmed the news on Monday and said that Ishant initially experienced pain on his skeletal structure and after tests, it had been found that he has sustained a muscle tear.
During a team training session, it was Ishant Sharma who reported an acute rib cage pain. The incident took place in Dubai for the Capitals. Further acting on the cause it was reported that it is actually an oblique muscle tear which will, unfortunately, keep him out of reminder of the IPL.
Ishant, 32, has played just one match for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2020 thus far. He completed his quota of 4 overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Abu Dhabi. Ishant remained wicketless in the match.
The fast bowler has a great history and stats playing for India as he played 80 ODI’s, 97 test and 14 t20’s. However, Ishant’s participation in Australia tour later this year will now depend on how his fitness.
Meanwhile, Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer also announced that wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is probably going to stay out of action for around every week thanks to injury. Another star from Delhi Capitals Ravi Ashwin also went through an injury on his shoulder but now is in perfect condition to compete.
The skipper of Delhi Capitals has no idea about the injury of Rishab Pant but the doctor has asked pant to take rest. Shreyas Iyer further waits and wishes a speedy recovery to Pant and expects him to be on the field soon.
The Delhi side is in good form in this IPL and will like to carry the momentum to the next match where they play the Rajsthan Royals on October 14th.
