IPL 2020 Updates : Vistara to fly all Teams to UAE

As the IPL season closes by we have 3 teams who have already reached the Emirates ahead of the tournament.

Vistara is given the charge to charter all the teams flying to the UAE as they take part in the grandest sporting event of cricket.

Vistara is known as the airline which has a joint venture between the Singapore airlines and Tata sons. The airline has already assisted and flown KXIP, Rajasthan royals, and Kolkata Knight Riders.

The upcoming season which was unfortunately moved to the UAE due to the outbreak of the virus is set to begin on September 19.

According to a report covered by Moneycontrol, a representative of the airlines has told that “ Vistara is engaging in the one-way charter for all the teams. They are either departing to Abu Dhabi or Dubai as per the schedule of the respective teams.

It has also come to note through the industry sources that Indigo and SpiceJet were also vying for the deal. But a Senior Executive from the industry reported that “ Vistara was chosen because BCCI mandated business class for certain players and coaches”.

The Premier League is set to last until November 8 and will have a total of eight teams competing for the title. The team’s which are still left to depart include Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals.

The teams will be departing from Mumbai or Delhi airports. Vistara has not yet confirmed if they will fly the team’s back home after the season is over. An industry executive said, “ The return flights will occasionally depend on the performance of each team and how far they progress in the tournament”.

This season of the IPL which was grounded a few months ago due to the virus outbreak is now making headlines. Recently Dream11 has become the official title sponsor of IPL by replacing Chinese handset maker Vivo.

The contract is a great opportunity for Vistara to charter IPL Teams as many airlines were vying for the same opportunity in order to improve their cash flows.

The June Analysis of Vistara’s market share in the domestic market is eye-catching as it fell by 5.8% that month from 6.4% in March. To make things work the airline had recently announced that they will operate special non-stop flights between Delhi and London Heathrow airport. To mark their presence in the long haul International operations Vistara will be taking initiative from August 28 to September 30.
