The IPL 2024 Mega Auction saw incredible deals as franchises reshaped their squads for the upcoming season. Here’s a comprehensive look at the key buys for each team.

Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings made some bold moves during the auction. They acquired Afghanistan’s young spinner Noor Ahmad for ₹10 crore, making him one of their biggest signings. Veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin returned to CSK for ₹9.75 crore, adding a wealth of experience to their squad. Devon Conway was another vital addition, purchased for ₹6.25 crore to strengthen their batting order. Additionally, CSK used the Right to Match (RTM) card to retain New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra for ₹4 crore.

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals turned heads by purchasing KL Rahul for ₹14 crore, naming him their new captain. They also strengthened their bowling lineup with the inclusion of Mitchell Starc and T. Natarajan. To retain continuity, they used RTM cards to secure Jake Fraser-McGurk and Mukesh Kumar.

Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans added star power to their batting by signing England’s Jos Buttler for ₹15.75 crore, a move that significantly bolsters their top order. Their bowling department was fortified with the additions of Mohammad Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, Prasidh Krishna, and Washington Sundar, making them a well-balanced side.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders went all out for Venkatesh Iyer, securing him for a staggering ₹23.75 crore, the highest for the franchise. They also picked up Quinton de Kock and Anrich Nortje, further enhancing their squad depth with a mix of batting and bowling firepower.

Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants made the biggest purchase of the auction, signing Rishabh Pant for ₹27 crore. Pant is expected to take over as captain. They also bolstered their middle order by adding David Miller, Mitchell Marsh, and Aiden Markram, ensuring a dynamic and explosive batting lineup.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians retained their star bowler Jasprit Bumrah, already a cornerstone of their bowling attack, and paired him with Trent Boult, purchased for ₹12.50 crore. They also brought in Will Jacks and retained Naman Dhir using RTM, further strengthening their squad.

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings made a statement with the second-highest purchase of the auction, buying Shreyas Iyer for ₹26.75 crore. Alongside Iyer, they added power hitters Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis and young talent Nehal Wadhera to create a well-rounded team.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals’ most significant acquisition was Jofra Archer for ₹12.50 crore, which bolsters their bowling attack. They also added spin options Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, and Tushar Deshpande, giving them depth in the bowling department.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore made a notable move by signing Josh Hazlewood for ₹12.50 crore. To add all-around capabilities, they brought in Tim David, Phil Salt, and Liam Livingstone, creating a dynamic mix of players for their campaign.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s standout signing was Ishan Kishan for ₹11.25 crore, adding a reliable top-order batter. They also bolstered their bowling attack with Rahul Chahar, Mohammad Shami, and Harshal Patel, ensuring a balanced and competitive squad.
