IPL 2025 is set to resume on May 17th, and the final will be slated for June 3rd.
However, the availability of the overseas players remains a question, as their respective series are also going to start.
After the Pahalgam terror attack, the ongoing 18th edition of the IPL was stopped due to security reasons and is now all set to restart on May 17th.
It will start with the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders in Bengaluru.
Match Details
The IPL was almost at its end stage when it was stopped, and will resume from there.
The cities that will host the remaining matches of the IPL are Bengaluru, Mumbai, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad.
Cities for the Qualifiers, Eliminators, and Final are yet to be decided.
Ongoing Standings
Currently, Gujarat Titans are leading the table with 16 points and three more matches.
Then, in the second position is Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which has 16 points and three matches left.
In the third position are the Punjab Kings with 15 points, and they also have some matches left.
The fourth position is taken by the Mumbai Indians with 14 points and two matches left.
Delhi Capitals are in the fifth position with 13 points and three matches remaining.
Kolkata Knight Riders are in the sixth position with 11 points and two matches remaining.
Lucknow Super Giants are in the seventh position and have very little chance of making it to the top four.
Whereas, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, and Chennai Super Kings are out of the tournament.
Currently, the Orange Cap for highest runs is with Suryakumar Yadav with 510 runs; just behind him are Sai Sudharsan with 509 runs and Gill with 508 runs.
And the Purple Cap for leading wicket-taker is with Prasidh Krishna with 20 wickets; behind him are Noor Ahmad, also with 20 wickets, and Josh Hazlewood with 18 wickets.
Overseas Players
All the Mumbai Indians players are available to rejoin; however, Will Jacks and Corbin Bosch may not be available in the playoffs if MI qualifies.
For GT, it is not clear whether Jos Buttler, Kagiso Rabada, and Sherfane Rutherford will get NOCs after the league stages.
There is no confirmation from SRH regarding their overseas players—Heinrich Klaasen, Eshan Malinga, Kamindu Mendis, and Wiaan Mulder.
Jamie Overton might not be available for CSK; the rest will all rejoin the squad.
Mitchell Starc and Jake Fraser-McGurk are unlikely to return for the Delhi Capitals.
For KKR, Moeen Ali and Spencer Johnson’s availability is not clear, and for LSG, apart from Aiden Markram, everyone is expected to return.
Josh Hazlewood, Romario Shepherd, and Lungi Ngidi are tipped to be unavailable for the playoffs for RCB.
