17-year-old Manu Bhaker has scripted history by bagging India’s first gold medal at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) tournament this year in Women’s 10m Air Pistol on Thursday.
The young shooting sensation Bhaker shot 244.7, which broke the junior world record. Bhaker also became the second Indian after Heena Sidhu to win a gold medal at International Shooting Sport Federation world cup.

Serbia’s Zorana Arunovic bagged silver with 241.9, while Quian Wang of China won bronze with 221.8. Abhishek Verma and Saurabh Chaudhary qualified for the final in the men’s 10m air pistol event. Verma topped the qualifications with 588 while Chaudhary was seventh with 581.
Earlier, Commonwealth Games gold-medallist Manu and Rahi Sarnobat failed to qualify for the finals of the women’s 25m air pistol event. Manu shot 292 and 291 in the precision and rapid events respectively for a total of 583 in the qualifiers.
