Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju launched the Fit India Youth Club on August 15th 2020. The Club’s initiative is to promote fitness across the country.

The Fit India Youth Club is a part of the Fit India Movement. It aims to create mass awareness about the importance of fitness. It brings together fitness and voluntarism. 75 lakh volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and National Service Scheme with Scouts and Guides, NCC and other youth organisations will come together to register in every block of the country.

As per a media release by Sports Authority of India (SAI), each member will motivate people from the community to take up fitness activities. These activities will be 30 to 60 minutes long per day.

The clubs will also organise and encourage schools and local bodies to organise a community fitness programmer per quarter.

Mr. Rijiju said, “Only a fit citizen can contribute adequately to his or her country. Only they can help fellow citizens in their times of need”. The Minister is confident that 1 crore volunteers can motivate at least 30 crore citizens.

“With time, both the numbers of volunteers and those who can be motivated to join the Fit India Movement will grow. Soon, we will be able to reach out to every Indian.”
