The 24th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was all set to be played in Bengaluru.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru was returning home to play the match against the unbeaten Delhi Capitals.
Axar Patel, the captain of DC, won the toss and elected to field first.

Phil Salt and Virat Kohli opened the innings, and Phil started to charge from the very first over of the innings.
He looked unstoppable from the way he was batting and scoring runs.
With his great power-hitting, RCB reached a total of 50 runs within the first four overs itself.
Going on, Phil got run out by KL Rahul, which turned the match towards DC.
Wickets then started to fall, and none of the batsmen were able to stand and score runs.
The RCB team was falling miserably and was only able to put up a score of 163 runs for the loss of seven wickets.
Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each, whereas Mukesh Kumar and Mohit Sharma took one wicket.
RCB called in Suyash Sharma as their impact player, sending out Devdutt Padikkal.
Delhi Capitals Innings
Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk opened the innings for DC.
Yash Dayal, in his first over, took the wicket of Faf, giving an early breakthrough to the DC team.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, in his next two overs, took two wickets, sending out the top order of Delhi.
KL Rahul came into play on his home ground and started to score runs from one end.
Axar Patel supported him from the other end for a while as he completed his half-century.
Tristan Stubbs stood with KL, and he kept on adding runs and taking DC close to victory.
In the end, the knock of 93 runs by him made Delhi Capitals win the fourth consecutive match.
He was also awarded the Player of the Match award for his match-winning performance.
