Knocks by Rohit & Dinesh, Bowling by spinners proved to be a perfect winning match for India

The first T-20I out of the 5-match series was played between India and West Indies on July 29th at Brian Lara Stadium.

The West Indies won the toss and elected to field first.

First Innings

Surya Kumar Yadav  and Rohit Sharma opened the innings for India.

Rohit is just a few runs behind Martin Guptill to be the top run scorer in the T-20 format.

Surya Kumar and Rohit started the innings with great shots and powerful hits.

The great fours and sixes were seen when Yadav lost his wicket when he tried to flick the ball through midwicket but caught the man.

In the next over, McCoy got the wicket of Shreyas Iyer, giving IND their second breakthrough.

Rohit completed his half-century. His knock of 64 runs consisted of seven fours and two massive sixes and also added valuable runs to the total.

No other batsmen were able to stand for long in front of the WI bowlers.

Dinesh Kartik came in between and played an outstanding quick knock of 41 runs, which included four fours and two massive sixes, leading Team India to a total of 190 runs for the loss of six wickets.

Alzarri Joseph tried his best as he took two wickets and tried to limit the Indian team.

Second Innings

WI opened the innings with Kyle Mayers and Sharmarh Brooks.

The first over was a big one as both the openers smashed great shots.

Arshdeep Singh didn’t let them settle as, despite the big hits, he took the wicket of Kyle.

Ravindra Jadeja bowled Jason Holder for a golden duck.

The batsmen of WI weren’t able to face the bowlers, especially the spinners.

Sharmarh was looking good when Bhuvenshwar Kumar bowled him.

The Indian bowlers were not letting any of the WI batsmen settle down.

Arshdeep Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets each as they limited the WI innings to just a score of 122 for the loss of eight wickets.

India won the match by 68 runs as Dinesh Kartik was named the Player of the Match for his knock of 41 runs in just 19 deliveries and Rohit Sharma became the top run scorer in the T-20 format.
