Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli

The defeat from arch-rivals Pakistan in the finals of  the ICC Champions Trophy final already gave a strong blow to the Indian Cricket fan, but it seems this was not enough for them as they received another one when Kumble resigned from the post of head coach despite of having a successful year. The reason of this step is known to all. The Kohli-Kumble episode had been in the lime-lite for about past one month. But no one had even thought that this issue will convert into such a scenario.

However, another revelation has been done in Kumble’s resignation which is quite shocking for all the cricket fans and officials. It is assumed that Kohli has abused Kumble during the recent Champions trophy.

In a nostalgic resignation letter, Kumble wrote, “I am honoured by the confidence reposed in me by the CAC, in asking me to continue as head coach. The credit for the achievements of the last one year goes to the captain, the entire team, coaching and support staff. Post this intimation, I was informed for the first time yesterday by the BCCI that the captain had reservations with my ‘style’ and about my continuing as the head coach.

“ I was surprised since I have always respected the role boundaries between captain and coach. Though the BCCI attempted to resolve the misunderstandings between the captain and me, it was apparent that the partnership was untenable, and I therefore believe it is best for me to move on.

“I see the coach’s role akin to ‘holding a mirror’ to drive self-improvement in the team’s interest. In light of these ‘reservations I believe it is best I hand over this responsibility to whomever the CAC and BCCI deem fit.”

After the Champions Trophy final, team India went to West Indies for their ODI and T-20 series while Kumble didn’t show up for the flight and remained in England.
