Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has made his name as a batsman on international grounds. In his current form, he is unstoppable and is enjoying his golden era of batting. However, he was handed another responsibility earlier this year. After Dhoni announced his retirement from captaincy for the shorter formats of the game, he was made the skipper of the Indian cricket team in all three formats.

It has been around half-a-year since he has been handed over the command of the Indian cricket team. Under Kohli’s captaincy, India has played a couple of ODI and T20 series against England and West Indies; Kohli also led India in the Champions Trophy.

In his first ODI  and T20 series against England as a captain, India won both the series 2-1. Not only he led India to the win, he performed well with the bat scoring 185 runs in three ODIs which included one century and one half-century.

However, Kohli was not able to replicate the results in the Champions Trophy final. The team performed well in the whole tournament but experienced a sudden downfall in the finals. His decision to bowl first in the finals, poor bowling selection and collapsing of the batting order during the chase raised questions on his captaincy abilities and made it clear that he still needs to improve.
